Dr. Thomas W. Vitz has been practicing dentistry for over 30 years.  He was raised in California, completing his undergraduate education at San Jose State College, where he attained his Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology.  He later attained his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree (D.D.S) at Georgetown University, Washington, D.C. in 1974.

    From 1975 to 1978, he served as Chief of Dental Services of the Indian Health Service hospital - Keams Canyon, in order to serve the Native American population of Arizona.  In 1978, he and his family moved to Corpus Christi, Texas to establish a hospital dental unit at Christus Spohn Hospital - Memorial, while continuing to operate his private practice daily.

    The practice of Dentistry remains one of his major passions. He remains a member of the following organizations: American Dental Association (ADA), Texas Dental Association (TDA) and the Nueces Valley District Dental Society (NVDDS).  He is also a member of the American Society of Forensic Odontology (ASFO) and has been trained by the Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) division of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), serving as a volunteer in the identification of unknown and missing individuals.

     Dr. Vitz has been married for over 34 years and with his wife Velda, has raised three children whom he enjoys spending time.   He also enjoys travel, reading, tennis, and remains active in his church.
